Theatre Arlington’s Adult and Children’s Theatre School (A.C.T.S.) utilizes a progressive curriculum in order for students to build upon what they have learned in a previous class or level and reach their potential as students of theatre and the performing arts.


Class offerings in Private Voice, Dance and Piano add variety and opportunities for students to grow outside of traditional acting or musical theatre classes.



Spring Courses 2026

SPRING 2026 — MYTHS & LEGENDS

Every story has a hero  and this semester, they get to become one.

This spring at Theatre Arlington, our students will step into the exciting world of Myths & Legends  where imagination takes center stage and every performer gets to explore what makes a story unforgettable.

From ancient tales and folklore favorites to modern musicals inspired by iconic heroes and history, students will dive into characters who rise to challenges, form unlikely friendships, and discover their own unique strengths. Through acting, music, and movement, they’ll explore:

Big storytelling

Bold character choices

Teamwork and ensemble building

Comedy, drama, and musical theatre styles

How legends are created in ANY era, not just “once upon a time”

Whether they’re interpreting a scene from a Broadway hit, re-imagining a well-known hero, or creating brand-new stories together this semester encourages creativity, confidence, and the joy of performing.

Music and Movement (ages 3-5)

Music & Movement: Little Heroes in Training!

Mondays | 4:30–5:30 PM

Every great legend begins with a spark of imagination! In this high-energy class, our youngest performers will use music, rhythm, and creative movement to explore storytelling and expression. Students will practice foundational performance skills such as:

Listening and following cues

Body control and spatial awareness

Building confidence & creative expression

Working together as a team

Each week, little heroes will transform into characters from epic adventures marching like brave explorers, dancing like magical creatures, and using their voices to bring stories to life! This class supports physical coordination, emotional expression, and early social development, all through joyful play in a supportive environment.

Perfect for young performers ready to leap into their first onstage adventure!

Creative Dramatics (ages 5-7)

Creative Dramatics: Building Bold Storytellers

Mondays | 4:30–5:30 PM

Every performer has a story only they can tell  and this class helps them discover their voice! In Creative Dramatics, students will use imagination, acting games, and character play to explore how stories and performances come to life.

Through the exciting theme of Myths & Legends, young artists will learn to:

Create fun characters with big personalities

Use their voices expressively and confidently

Use imagination to act out fantastical adventures

Understand the basics of staging and working as an ensemble

Build communication skills through collaborative storytelling

Students will step into roles inspired by heroes, helpers, and hilarious sidekicks discovering how teamwork and creativity shape every performance. This class strengthens reading readiness, listening skills, and confidence while keeping learning playful and energetic.

Perfect for kids ready to take the stage with personality and imagination!

Teen Acting (ages 15+)

Teen Acting for Ages 15+: Characters with Depth

For actors ready to take their craft to the next level, this class dives into the deeper work of character development and honest storytelling. Students will explore contemporary scenes, world-building, and bold performance choices inspired by legendary figures and unforgettable narratives.

Through collaboration, coaching, and intentional skill-building, teen actors will develop:

  • Strong audition preparedness and confidence
  • Clear choices rooted in text and character intention
  • Listening + reacting with authenticity in scene work
  • Vocal and physical technique for dynamic performance
  • Script analysis that goes beneath the surface

Perfect for young artists expanding beyond beginner training whether sharpening existing skills or stepping into bigger roles, this class helps students level up with purpose.

Musical Theatre Dance (ages 16+)

Lights, confidence… dance call!

This high-energy workshop prepares performers of all backgrounds to walk into any musical theatre audition feeling focused, fearless, and ready to shine.

Each week, students will:

  • Learn and break down a new musical theatre combination
  • Strengthen pick-up and retention skills with real audition pacing
  • Elevate storytelling and performance quality through movement
  • Practice strategies that reduce stress and increase confidence
  • Learn how to add “audition flair” to stand out in the room

Whether you’re a trained dancer or a singer-who-moves, this class gives you the tools to show up like a pro.

Tween Musical Theatre (ages 11-13)

Tween Musical Theatre: Legends Take the Lead

Tween performers step into the spotlight with big characters, strong vocals, and bold storytelling! Through musical numbers inspired by myths, folklore, and modern theatrical retellings, students will learn how to sing, act, and move as one cohesive performer.

They will build skills in:

Vocal technique — breath, projection & healthy habits

Choreography execution & musicality

Combining acting with movement for authentic performances

Ensemble precision & teamwork

Connecting storytelling to audience engagement

Students will explore material that feels exciting and current, while challenging them to take on more advanced performance expectations all in a supportive environment designed for growth.

Musical Theatre (ages 8-10)

Musical Theatre for Ages 8–10: Rising Stars of the Stage

Adventure meets applause! This musical theatre class combines acting, singing, and movement while students explore roles inspired by legendary stories and larger-than-life characters found across theatre and film.

Students will develop:

Strong vocal foundations

Basic choreography and ensemble dance skills

Character building through song & movement

Stage presence and performance confidence

Collaboration & ensemble trust

Material selections will keep students energized, challenged, and supported  showing them what it means to perform as a team and celebrate each performer’s moment to shine.

Acting (ages 8-12)

Acting for Ages 8–12: Quest for Character

Big adventures start with a big imagination! In this acting class, students will explore script work, character creation, and stage confidence through stories inspired by mythical heroes, magical lands, and theatrical favorites.

Through teamwork and creative play, actors will learn:

Voice control & clear articulation

Basic blocking and stage directions

How to create characters with choices and intentions

Beginning script analysis

Listening & reacting to scene partners

They’ll learn what makes a performance exciting and how their unique creativity contributes to every story.

High School Musical Theatre

High School Musical Theatre: Mastering the Mythic Stage

High school performers take center stage in this advanced musical theatre course designed to deepen technique and unlock powerful, authentic storytelling. Using musical selections inspired by classic legends, modern mythology, and contemporary Broadway favorites, students will push their artistry further than ever before.

They will strengthen:

Vocal technique, harmony work, and musical phrasing

Scene-to-song transitions & character intention

Choreography precision & performance stamina

Lyric interpretation and emotional clarity

Audition preparation and professional rehearsal habits

Students will explore what makes characters iconic not perfection, but purpose and how their own voice transforms every role they take on.

Adult Acting

Adult Acting I: Foundations for Fearless Storytelling

Wednesdays | 6:00–7:30 PM (First 6 Weeks)

There’s a performer inside everyone  and this beginner-friendly class is where that discovery begins. Through text work, improvisation, and core acting fundamentals, adults will explore how to bring characters to life honestly and confidently.

Skills introduced include:

Vocal clarity and presence

Character building and objective-driven acting

Basic scene study & on-your-feet practice

Ensemble trust and collaboration

This supportive environment encourages curiosity, growth, and rediscovering the joy of play no experience required.

Perfect for adults ready to step into a new adventure and find their voice onstage.

Adult Acting Through Song: Your Voice, Your Story

Wednesdays | 6:00–7:30 PM (Second 6 Weeks)

Instructor: Janette Robinson

Every song tells a story and this class is all about learning how to own that story. Designed for singers of all levels, this course will help performers connect emotionally with lyrics, elevate vocal storytelling, and deliver powerful, grounded performances.

Students will work on:

Song interpretation and vocal expression

Bringing character and intention to musical moments

Confidence in solo and small-group performance

Techniques for audition readiness and stage presence

With individual coaching and supportive ensemble work, performers will discover how to make musical theatre personal, truthful, and unforgettable.

Perfect for adults wanting to elevate their artistry and feel fully alive in the spotlight.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

Private in-person instruction in Dance, Acting, Voice, Audition Prep and Piano is available for children and adults by appointment.

Looking to build confidence and grow your skills one-on-one? Theatre Arlington offers private lessons in voice or acting, tailored to each student’s goals and experience level. Choose from 30-minute sessions for $30 or 1-hour sessions for $60, taught by our experienced instructors. It’s a great way to take your training to the next stage!
