CLASSES

Theatre Arlington’s Adult and Children’s Theatre School (A.C.T.S.) utilizes a progressive curriculum in order for students to build upon what they have learned in a previous class or level and reach their potential as students of theatre and the performing arts.
Class offerings in Private Voice, Dance and Piano add variety and opportunities for students to grow outside of traditional acting or musical theatre classes.

Creative Play
Ages 3 - 5
Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00
$35 registration fee to reserve place in class / $55 per month*
A focus and development of the imagination of the pre-school age child, using music and creative arts projects in order to make stories come alive.

Creative Dramatics

An introduction to the world of theater and performing through the use of games, activities, and creative play.
Students learn how to work and play together to put on a performance in which everyone plays an important part.

Acting Two**

A review of the concepts learned in Acting I, and the learning of monologues, improvisation, characterization, auditioning techniques,
scene work, performing and developing related skills.

Acting Three**
Ages 10-14

Advanced Acting**
Ages 11 - 14

An in-depth study of acting and being an actor, incorporating journaling, writing monologues, and
self-analysis for students who have an interest in a career in the theatre.
**Prerequisite: previous acting level or special permission from Education Director.

Acting for Teens**
Ages 13 - 18
Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30
$35 registration fee to reserve place in class / $85 per month*
A flexible acting class for teenagers. Its structure is flexible because it will require the assessment of the instructor in order to teach to the abilities and experiences of the students.
Study should focus on basic stage direction, scene study, monologues, characterization and performance.
**Prerequisite: previous acting level or special permission from Education Director.

Please note that the total fee is broken in to equal monthly payments and is not by class.
A $35 registration fee holds your place in class.

Program Begins August 17th

Theatre Arlington Has Created a Virtual Learning Program To:

 ~ Give families an option for a safe and structured environment while distance learning.
 ~ Support continued learning for students in upper elementary (grades 3-6) and junior high (grades 7-9).
 ~ Assist and support our community during this unprecedented period.
 ~ Serve our mission to educate and enrich.

We Will Offer:

~ Full Day
 ~ Early Drop Off
 ~ Extended Day program

   Drop-In & Half Day Options may be available.

What It Will Look Like:

~ Qualified teaching artists will supervise and insure your student's completion of schoolwork and attendance of virtual classes per individual school schedules.
 ~ Students will be in groups of no more than 10, split into separate classrooms by age range.
 ~ Your student will have an assigned table and work area with at least 6 feet of separation.
 ~ Theatre Arlington will provide extension cords for your student's personal laptops or personal tablets on which to do work.
 ~ Your student will have access to printing and scanning.
 ~ Theatre Arlington will have breakout enrichment classes in art, yoga, music, acting and dance/movement taught by professional teaching artists.
~ Your student will have supervised lunch and snack breaks.
 ~ Your student will have daily silent reading time.
 ~ Theatre Arlington will follow all protocols in place for health and safety, including mandatory face coverings in common areas (ages 8-10) and at all times for students and staff, ages 11 and up.
 ~ Your student will have game/relaxation time worked into the daily schedule. Phones and other handheld gaming devices will be allowed during this time.
 ~ Theatre Arlington will offer opportunities to stay and attend after-school class for additional fee.
 ~ Theatre Arlington will also offer opportunities for private instruction in voice and dance for additional fee.

  One-time Registration Fee $30
  Full Day, Weekly (8:30am-4pm) $199
  Early Drop Off, Weekly (7:30am-8:30am) $50
  Extended Day, Weekly (4pm-6pm)    $75
  Both Early Drop Off/Extended Day    $100

Dancing with Miss Tracie A performance by dancer,

focusing on contemporary and jazz styles.

Come Play with Me!
Creative Play activities with teaching artist Caroline Cole,
focusing on fairy tales and telling the stories using our bodies,
faces and voices.

INTERNSHIPS
INTERNSHIPS

Theatre Arlington is looking for a few good interns for our educational summer camps. These are paid internships for qualified high school and college students who are motivated to work with kids and are passionate about theatre, with all its glamour and all its dirt, literally. Details for 2020 Internships coming later in 2019!

Positions Available
Head Intern: Responsible for intern daily assignments and direct supervision. Must be college student.
   
Office Intern: Responsible for checking in with office staff on a daily basis for administrative assignments. Also will create playbills for all camp performances and handle camper supplies.
   
Educational Intern: Assigned to a director/instructor or camper group
Qualifications

Must be 15 years of age or older at time of application.

Application Process

Internship Application
Turn in form, along with a one-page essay on why you would make a good intern.
Can be humorous or serious, but must be well-written.
Spelling does count!

Time Frame

Applications must be turned in by February 29th.

Duties Include

Camper check in and check out, class support for camp directors, stage management, lighting or sound for camp performances. Space clean up and restoration each day. Administrative tasks as needed. Camper supervision and assistance with sets, props and costumes for performances.

OUTREACH
ACT UPS
Applied Creative Thinking Using Performance Skills

Developed in 1996, as a partnership with the Arlington Independent School District to target culturally diverse, at-risk students, the ACT UPS program now reaches more than 1,500 at-risk 4th or 5th grade children each year at Title 1 Elementary Schools within the AISD.  The ACT UPS Program will proudly celebrate its 24th anniversary during the 2019-2020 school year!
